  • September 3, 2008 - The start of the Blocks Cycle XC8 is under 3 days away! But its really not too late to get involved... Registration XC8 is taking registrations until 10:00pm on Thursday night. This will save you a valuable $10 per entry whether you're a solo racer or team member.
    Teams Needing Racers
We have two 4-person teams seeking additional racers to fill empty spots in their roster, they just need one more member for their team. So, if you don't want to race the whole 8 hours solo, but don't have your own team, here's a great way to get into XC8.
Sask vs Alberta, Manitoba, and BC Currently, Saskatchewan racers make up only 46% of the registered racers, Alberta, Manitoba, and British Columbia are all sending racers and teams. We need to step it up, Saskatchewan! We are just about to break last year's attendance record, and XC8 is now officially the largest mountain bike race of the season.
The race course will be available for riding late afternoon to evening on Friday. Camping will be fully underway, our out of province friends will be rolling in all day. Camping is provided for all of our racers and volunteers.

  • August 8, 2008 - update from Randy (Alex's dad) Wrubleski: Hi all, Here are a couple of the items I have found regarding cycling. For starters, the men's road race is Saturday morning 00:00hrs to 05:00 hrs. The women's road race is Sunday morning 00:00hrs to 03:00hrs. In terms of TV coverage, here is some of the stuff I have found for the women's race:
    1. TSN says they will have road race coverage starting at 01:00 hrs on Sunday and going to 03:30 hrs (with some rowing mixed in).
    2. NBC has Olympic coverage on Sunday morning from 00:00 hrs to 03:30 hrs but they don't say what they will be covering.
    3. CBC will be streaming cycling coverage to their website as per the following link. I've tried to view some of their current coverage and have yet to get this to work for anything other than the promotional clips and commercials! Be sure to set your location as Regina in the top right hand corner of the webpage. http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/schedule/weekly/2008/08/09/cycling/
