The Saskatchewan Cycling Association offers many clinics for coaching, and other educational aspects of cycling. Information on upcoming camps is listed on this page and is updated constantly.

Mountain Bike Officials Course - Saskatoon
Free - if you are a Sask Cycling Member!

These courses will be of interest to the following:
-If you are a parent or relative that attends cycling events and would be able to assist at a race as an official.
- If you are a new racer and would like to know what the rules of racing really are.
-If you are a Coach or working on your Coaching levels.

As a race official your travel expenses to the races will be paid and you will receive an honorarium.

Let’s Ride! - Community Initiation and Basic Cycling Skills Coaching Courses
Regina, April 28/29

Community Initiation Coaching Course

9am to 4:30pm

Info:    In this course coaches will explore how to:

  • Ensure participants have a fun, safe, stage-appropriate experience that makes them want to come back.
  • Help to develop basic cycling skills which are transferable to all cycling disciplines, and which can be done on any kind of bicycle.
  • Model behaviours that are consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics, fair play principles, values, and philosophy.
  •  Introduce participants to the idea of competition and show them the competition pathway if they want to become more involved.

Basic Cycling Skills Coaching Course

10am to 3:00pm

Info:    This course covers basic cycling skills; teaching and analysis, detection and correction of errors, use of lesson plan templates

What to bring:           A bike, a helmet, a good warm jacket for cycling, some long pants or tights for the cold, gloves and other cold weather gear

General Info: Cost: $70 for SCA Members, $80 for non-SCA members. $10 early bird discount

Ready to Race - Training to Race (Part B)

In this course coaches will explore how to:
· Introduces coaches to the needs of developing athletes preparing for competition.
· Goal setting, physical training, mental training and skill analysis techniques are emphasized as coaches plan a season of competition.
· The focus of the Introduction to Competition B course is the design of a seasonal plan.

What to bring: Pen/Paper only. This is a classroom session; no bike is needed

Cost:

  • $80 for SCA Members, $90 for non-SCA members.
  • Early Bird Registrations will receive a $10 discount.

Ready to Race! – Competition Introduction Coaching Course

Competition Introduction Coaching Course (Part A)

When:  TBA   

Info:            In this course coaches will explore how to:

  • Ensure participants have fun, safe, stage appropriate experiences that
    make them want to continue in competitive cycling
  • Introduce participants to regular training 3 to 6 times per week
  • Introduce participants to competition in multiple cycling disciplines
    within club, school or basic provincial level competition programs
  • Assist the development of cyclists passing through their growth spurt
    and be ready to modify training and competition accordingly, consistently,
    consistent with the LTAD model
  • Create a foundation to prepare participants to advance to a more
    specialized development level of training and competition as they develop
