Western Cycle XC8:  7th Annual 8 Hour Enduro
September 10th, 2011 – Buffalo Pound Provincial Park
The 2011 Race begins at 9am!  This is an hour earlier than previous years, so don’t be late!

In 2005 we decided to try something new and the XC8 was born.  It immediately gained the attention of racers from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba as a destination event.  By 2008, the event was the largest mountain bike race in Saskatchewan, and in 2009 the event eclipsed all other cycling races in the province as the largest.  In all those years, nobody from Saskatchewan had ever won the Solo Male category.

Last year in 2010, Western Cycle gave away a sweet bike, tons of prizes, and $1000 cash.

We also finally crowned our first Saskatchewan Solo Male Champion, Jeremy Erdmann ... and we are all set to do it again.

The fact that it took so long for Saskatchewan to actually win the category speaks to the level of competition and the depth of field at this event.  XC8 truly is an experience, a destination, where once a year people from across Western Canada take over Buffalo Pound to camp, visit friends, eat a lot of food, enjoy a beverage or three .. oh, and ride some bikes.

This aint your grandma’s mountain bike race.  8 Hours is a true test of your experience and abilities.  Lucky for you, the race comes in 2 flavours – solo and team.  Race alone and take all the glory (and a chance at $250 cash for first place male or female) or team up and form a 2-person or 4-person team with your friends for a blast in the valley this September.

Ride the flowy scenic trails of Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, and have plenty of friendly people to share them with. Each season we choose a new combination of trails and keep the race course secret until the day before the race. The course is designed with safety in mind for the average to intermediate rider to complete with success. You will enjoy a well marked and groomed 9-10km loop of trails with challenging technical sections, fast downhills, smooth and flowy singletrack, and over 800ft of challenging climbs per lap. The race course offers something for everyone no matter what your skill, including breathtaking panoramic views of the Qu'Appelle valley
