Race Mentorship Program
|
Program Overview:
|
Are you interested
in racing, but worried about how to start out? The first few races,
road or mountain bike, can be intimidating for a new racer. The Northern
Bush Rastas can help! We have a Racer Mentoring program to help people
make the transition from recreational riding to racing.
New racers are partnered up with club members who have racing experience.
They help you out with a lot of the basics of getting ready to race,
such as: registration, pre-rides, what to pack, what to wear, what to
eat, how long to warm up, starting, some race tips and more. All sorts
of things a rider needs to do to help things go smoothly and have a
good race.
|
|
Required Equipment:
|
Participants will
need a CSA approved cycling helmet and a mountain bike in good running
order.

Road
Horizon 100
Boot
Camp
|
Program Overview:
|
The boot camps focus on learning group riding skills.
We want to
educate and teach new riders how to exist in a group and not be a danger
to themselves and others. We
teach riding side by side, in a line, the importance of letting each
other know about road hazards. How to switch from the front of
the line to the back of the line. How to draft and how to provide
the draft. How to pace. How to brake. Potential emergence
avoidance techniques.
And a whole host of more important functions. Young riders are certainly
welcome. They must hold themselves responsible for their actions.
This means riding with safety in mind.
