WHAT A HONOR!

Thank you to all my friends in cycling for awarding me the Ken Wilson trophy and a special Thank you to the people who nominated me for this award.

I have worked towards this race season for the last three years. It was three years ago that I found out the World Masters games were going to be in Edmonton. Thank you to the people who cheered for me even when I was having races I was not doing well in, & Thank you to the people who cheered me in the provincial races and the World Master games. Even in the heat of the races I always hear the voices of my friends encouraging me on.

To win provincial medals or World Masters medals is rewarding, especially when you have spent so much time working towards them, but to win the Ken Wilson trophy is more of a honor, since it is awarded to me by my fellow cyclists. It is especially meaningful that I raced against Ken Wilson many times and he was one of the most competitive cyclists that I have raced against.

I would like to say the rewards of this season have gone far beyond winning medals or trophies. I was proud to be associated with the other Saskatchewan riders at the World Masters, and whether you won medals or not I was proud of you all there. You came together as a team and did this province proud and were all winners for competing!

Another reward was running into people that I competed against in Portland,Oregon. and St. George, Utah. These people have become some of our best friends and master sport has become a lifestyle to them.

I would like to congratulate the Canada games team this year! I think you are a quality group of young people and I hope you will stay around cycling for many years to come. To the many young people who did not make the Canada games team I would say DO NOT GIVE UP! Turn your disappointments into determination and you will all be winners in the future.

Thank you again to all the people in cycling who have supported me, especially to the RCC who have treated me like one of their own, even though I live three hours out of Regina.

The next World Masters games are in Sydney,Australia- Oct. 2009 I hope to see some of those Saskatchewan Team jerseys there.

Happy Trails- Keep the rubber side down.

See you in Sydney!
